Two weeks ago, I talked about “getting in the game” and how getting in the game can influence the outcome, especially when it comes to living out our faith. I mentioned different options on how each one of us can do our part to fulfill our mission of “Building Up the Body of Christ.”

Our mission of Building Up the Body of Christ encompasses our goals and values, values on how Jesus wants us to live out our lives. It is an action statement. An action statement where there is no end yet has meaning. Jesus told His disciples to go and make disciples of all nations, not just a few or when you reach fifty you can stop. When Jesus ascended into heaven, He did not say I will be with you until 5:00pm on June 16th, 2024. He told them He will be with them until the end of time. We must continue Building Up the Body of Christ because Jesus wants us to make disciples of all nations. He wants us to fulfill our mission just as He had a mission for His first disciples.

In my article, I stated the many ways that you can take an “active” part in helping our parish “Build Up the Body of Christ.” Our goal is not to “make” you do things in our parish, our goal is to help you fulfill Jesus’ mission which is to become an “active” member of His church, here at OLPH. The more active our parishioners are, the more energy we produce and the more vibrant our parish becomes. We should all strive to do small things with great love. I am available to discuss with you the ways in which you would like to volunteer. I am always interested in hearing your thoughts for our parish, whether they are short-range or long-range goals. Or browse our website to explore the various options here.

For myself, I thought the only way that I was going to be instrumental in Building Up the Body of Christ was being a lector or Eucharist Minister. However, I came to find out that God had another idea for me and my part in contributing to “Building Up the Body of Christ” and that was when I was called to become the Pastoral Associate of Faith Formation. I would never have thought in a million years that I would be in this position. So, it begs the question, where do you see yourself in “Building Up the Body of Christ” and what do you think God has planned for you?

God Bless,
