A Big Victory: OLPH’s New Strategic Plan

Dear Parish Family,

This is the last week of our theme: Victory - sharing in the victory of Christ. When our team meets, we often name and discuss our “wins” - those moments in the week when we see Christ alive, our mission lived out, and the Gospel proclaimed. When hard at work in the mission field, it is so important to pause, name and share those key moments. Today I would like to share with you a big victory for our whole parish, our new strategic plan!

Our mission (the reason we exist) is to build up the Body of Christ (See: Eph 4:11-13). Our vision which shapes how we live out our mission: “As members of one body, we strive eagerly to follow the Lord, make disciples, seek out the lost, share fellowship, love our neighbor, and above all worship God!” Each phrase taken from the Word of God; we seek to apply to our common life here.

The next layer is the Strategic Plan. A strategic plan is like a roadmap. It helps us move forward with purpose, making sure our resources—both people and finances—are used wisely to support our mission. This strategy helps us grow, stay focused, and work together to make an even greater impact in our community and beyond. Whereas the mission and vision remained unchanged, the strategic plan is our focus over the next three years.

For about a year now, your Pastoral Council, along with our team, has been developing this plan to help guide our parish over the next three years. We are all excited to now share this important plan with you — our church family.

Our plan focuses on three key priorities, with three objectives which support the larger goals:

1.) Secure the Future: Strengthen our foundation to thrive for years to come.

  • Build and maintain financial stability.
  • Care for and improve our parish buildings and grounds.
  • Strengthen leadership and operations.

2.) Grow Community: Shape a culture that makes people feel welcomed, valued, and inspired.

  • Invite more children and families into worship.
  • Reach out to our community with events and service.
  • Welcome newcomers through better outreach and communication.

3.) Deepen the Faith: Nurture relationships with God and neighbors.

  • Enrich faith formation for youth and families.
  • Offer more opportunities for adult spiritual growth.
  • Create a strong sense of belonging for all.

Now, we want to hear from you! To create a deeper sense of belonging, we plan to offer 2-3 town hall evenings a year. This will be a chance for us to answer questions, address concerns, and hear from the larger community.
